Background

We live in an increasingly violent society. Personal safety has become an issue for everyone, especially women. Women do not enjoy equal status with men in any society. They are often viewed as bearers of cultural identity and, thus, become prime targets.

The most common crime against women is rape, the act of dominance and aggression, sexual violence, forced impregnation, forced abortion, trafficking, sexual slavery, intentional spread of sexually transmitted infections including HIV. Unfortunately, an assumption exists that women are passive and will not fight back. Women are harassed not only in their homes but also in their work stations, streets, clubs, etc. Women face physical torture and verbal abuse everywhere. Fear causes many women not to report incidents which indirectly silences their voices.

In the majority of cases of rape, the rapist is not a stranger tothe victim; rapists can be friends, co-workers, acquaintances, even family members. The best thing we can do to prevent this crime from happening is to educate women and give them an awareness of how to be safe in any situation.

Generally, most women are gifted with a sixth sense which they must use whenever they find themselves in a predicament. They should at once avoid any situation that makes them feel afraid. Women should never feel guilty about leaving an environment that makes them feel unsafe.

If any situation seems dangerous, they must use their physical power and act accordingly, i.e., make noise, talk loudly, pretend to take a cell phone and go into a well lighted area.

Empowering Women

Motivational seminar

• How women need to regulate their lives to successfully pass through spiritual, psychological, physical and intellectual states.

• How to regularize life’s manifold issues through proper management

• How it is possible to bring about women’s social empowerment and ensure the establishment of their rights, responsibilities, equal justice and self-respect

• How to balance marital responsibilities and family bonds, as also face the problems at work stations and social interactions

• What to do to forge ahead on the realization of one’s insights into the fact that a woman’s super power lies in this very realization

Action

We can offer safety seminars and awareness of self-defence measures for women and girls. We need to teach women to take precautions when going out alone, walk with others whenever possible, if walking alone, stay confident. Provide newsletters for women, parents and organisations offering safety and security reminders. Stay alert. Be aware of everyone and everything in your vicinity. Pay attention to the people and vehicles around you. In suspicious circumstances, start heading for a public place. Never assume that you are in a safe area, that no one wants to harm you or that everyone shares your morals. Beware of strangers who ring the bell at your door; look and ensure that you are about to welcome the right person in. All women should learn from others’ tragedies and experiences, and possible missteps that others have gone through. These can help to protect women and girls in the future. Be prudent about what you share in the internet, always keep personal information confidential, and be careful about the sites you look through.

We are

Let us join hands and forge ahead with our programmes for World Peace Mission. The ideal is to work for projects ‘on earth as it is in heaven’. We should notice the spark of divinity in everything and everyone and treat it with due respect and reverence. Feed the hungry, provide drink for the thirsty,  welcome the outsider, protect the privacy of the naked, provide nursing care for the sick and the dying, mark each life on earth and work sincerely for this aim, and to teach it and to inspire others to do the same. World Peace Mission is the stage for this enterprise.
